Pelican Wire has begun upgrading one of their Extrusion jacketing lines with a new Capstan drive and wire take-up. The Capstan drive will be reconditioned by our Maintenance Department, who have full in-house machine shop capabilities, to tailor fit Pelican Wire’s custom needs. The benefits of the new capstan include:
- Pneumatically actuated safety guarding
- Five-fold cooling capacity increase, which leads to potential throughput increase and will reduce stresses on the product, therefore improving product quality.
As for the wire take-up, the benefits include:
- Improved safety guarding
- Improved tension control
- Increased reel capacity, as the new set will replace existing equipment and reduce the footprint requirement by 30%
